On Wednesday, April 30, the National Honor Society held its Candle Lighting Induction Ceremony inducting five students to join the Hoven Chapter of the NHS. Those inducted were Erica Sautner (Chad and Lori), Dannika Kaup (Jason and Kay), Addison Griese (Andy and Ashley), Casey Hageman (Darin and Jennie), and Jaxon Hartung (Jesse and Kindra). In order to be eligible to apply for induction, students must meet the requirements of a minimum of a 3.2 cumulative GPA, complete all application requirements, and receive majority staff approval. This year’s officers were President Jonah Pribyl, Vice President Abby McGuire, Secretary/Treasurer Taylyn Rausch; Historian Ethan Johnson, and Keeper of the Seal Lane Stuwe.
Congratulations to our NHS students on earning this distinguished achievement and exemplifying the epitome of the NHS through scholarship, leadership, character and service. 💙💛
Hoven Elementary Track & Field Day will be on Friday, May 2nd from 1:00 - 3:00 PM at the Hoven Track & Field (weather permitting). Students in grades preschool - 6th grade will participate in events and students and staff in grades 7-12 have organized the events and will be running the track & field day events. Everyone is welcome to come watch at the football field/track!

🔬 Real-World Forensics Comes to HHS! 🕵️♀️
Today during our Learning by Doing afternoon, students at HHS had the exciting opportunity to learn from a special guest speaker — Samantha Shaw, a Forensic Scientist with the South Dakota Division of Criminal Investigation (DCI).
Samantha shared an engaging overview of the field of forensics, including the various specialty areas within the discipline. She focused on her expertise in DNA analysis and guided students through a series of hands-on activities. Students lifted their own fingerprints, compared crime scene prints to suspect samples, analyzed DNA evidence to solve a mock bank robbery and determine parentage in a case involving a child switched at birth, and examined differences in firearm-related evidence.
We are incredibly grateful to Samantha for taking the time to visit and inspire our students with her knowledge and passion for forensic science. Experiences like this bring learning to life and spark curiosity for future careers! #SDWeekofWork

Hoven School will be having a bake sale on Friday, April 11th at 6:00 PM (before the Elementary Spring Concert). All proceeds will go to 1st grade teacher, Mrs. Mitzel, to help defray medical costs from her accident last Fall.
