Ms. Houlton-Oien's
Wiki I would recommend that parents as well as students check out Ms. Houlton-Oien's Wiki page as it contains information ranging from lesson plans for the classes she is teaching to scholarship, financial aid, and college information. Seniors should note that scholarship deadlines are quickly approaching as is the date for completing the FAFSA for most South Dakota University's. It is very important that you meet these deadlines when applying. |

You Can Nominate Hoven for a $25,000 Grant
The American Farmers Grow Rural Education, a project of the Monsanto Fund, is currently taking nominations of public schools for their grant program. This program gives producers the ability to nominate their local public school to be eligible to compete for a grant of up to $25,000. Once a school is nominated they are given the opportunity to fill out the grant application. The applications are scored on merit, need and community support. The merit portion is evaluated based on the district’s proposed use for the funds. The need component is determined by the school district and community’s financial status. The community support portion is evaluated based on the number of nominations a school district receives, the more nominations the greater the score. The Monsanto fund will award one $10,000 grant to a school district in Brown, Campbell, Edmunds, Faulk, McPherson, Potter, Spink, Walworth counties, and one $25,000 grant to a school in the State of South Dakota. Eligible farmers are asked to nominate a district. They will be accepting nominations through April 15, 2012. Feel free to pass the information along to any farmer you know. The more nominations we receive the stronger our application can be.
